Thank you for visiting this website www.piindia.org (the “Platform”), made available by Parliamentarians with Innovators for India (“PII”), a pan-India collaboration of parliamentarians, public policy experts, subject matter specialists and business leaders. The terms “you” and “your” refer to the user of the Platform and the terms “we” and “us” refer to PII.

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the policies and procedures for the collection, use, disclosure and protection of your information when you use the Platform or engage with us.

Please read this Policy before submitting any personal information to the Platform. This Policy is a part of, and is to be read along with, the Terms and Conditions on the Platform.

Your Consent By using the Platform, you agree and consent to the collection, transfer, use, storage, disclosure and sharing of your information as described and collected by us in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree with the Policy, please do not use or access the Platform.

Policy Changes We may occasionally update this Policy and such changes will be posted on this page. If we make any significant changes to this Policy we will endeavour to provide you with reasonable notice of such changes, such as through a prominent notice on the Platform or to your email address on record and where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent. To the extent permitted under the applicable law, your continued use of our Platform after we publish or send a notice about our changes to this Policy shall constitute your consent to the updated Policy.

Links to Other Websites The Platform may contain links to other websites. The Platform shall not be responsible for and has no control over the practices and content of any website accessed using the links contained on the Platform. This Policy shall not apply to any information you may disclose to any third parties working with us, which we do not require you to disclose to such third parties.

Information we collect from you You can browse the Platform without submitting your personal information to us. However, there are a number of circumstances in which you may need to provide us with your personal information. We will collect and process the following information about you:

Information you give us. This includes information submitted when you:

  • Submit your proposed solution in the form of an application on the Platform, which include your name, email, phone number and your LinkedIn profile as part of your applicant details;

  • Submit your proposed solution, which shall also include details of your proposed solution, which include the LinkedIn article, YouTube video and Twitter thread explaining your proposed solution;

  • Submit your proposed solution, which shall also include the details of any additional team members, which include their LinkedIn profiles;

  • correspond with PII for clarifications and/or support; or

  • participate in the interactive services offered by the Platform such as discussion boards, webinars, promotions or surveys, other social media functions, etc.

Information we collect about you. With regard to each of your visits to the Platform, we will automatically collect and analyse the following information:

  • when you communicate with us (via email, phone, through the Platform or otherwise), we may maintain a record of your communication; or

  • Usage and Preference Information: We collect information as to how you interact with our Platform, preferences expressed and settings chosen.

Cookies Our Platform and third parties with whom we partner, may use cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, mobile device IDs, “flash cookies” and similar files or technologies to collect and store information with respect to your use of the Platform and third-party websites.

Cookies are small files that are stored on your browser or device by websites, apps, online media and advertisements. We use cookies and similar technologies for purposes such as:

  • authenticating users;

  • remembering user preferences and settings;

  • determining the popularity of content;

  • delivering and measuring the effectiveness of advertising campaigns;

  • analysing site traffic and trends, and generally understanding the online behaviours and interests of people who interact with our services.

A pixel tag (also called a web beacon or clear GIF) is a tiny graphic with a unique identifier, embedded invisibly on a webpage (or an online ad or email), and is used to count or track things like activity on a webpage or ad impressions or clicks, as well as to access cookies stored on users’ computers.

Use of your information We use the information we collect for following purposes, including:

  • To better understand how you and other users access and use our Platform, both on an aggregated and individual user basis, in order to improve our Platform and respond to user desires and preferences, and for other research and analytical purposes;

  • to administer and enhance the security of our Platform and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;

  • to send you news and newsletters, promotions, or to otherwise contact you about projects, opportunities or information we think may interest you, and to administer surveys and questionnaires;

  • to generate and review reports and data about, and to conduct research on, our user base and Platform usage patterns;

  • to allow you to participate in interactive features of our Platform, if any;

  • To protect our own rights and interests, such as to resolve any disputes, enforce our Terms and Conditions, and to respond to legal requests;

  • In the interests of educational and policy research, development and/or action by third parties towards the aim of combating Covid-19, or other related objectives that the Platform is involved in the future;

  • in any other way we may describe when you provide the information; or

  • for any other purpose with your consent.

We may combine the information that we receive from third parties with the information you give to us and information we collect about you for the purposes set out above. Further, we may anonymize and/or de-identify information collected from you through the Platform or via other means, including via the use of third-party web analytic tools. As a result, our use and disclosure of aggregated and/or de-identified information is not restricted by this Policy, and it may be used and disclosed to others without limitation.

Disclosure and Distribution of Your Information We may share your information that we collect for following purposes:

With our partners, collaborators and third parties: We may share your information with our partners and collaborators including, but not limited to, those mentioned in this Policy earlier and any other third party involved in combating Covid-19, or other related objectives that the Platform is involved in the future. For example, your information may be shared with the aforementioned parties to send you emails and messages in relation to your proposed solution, our Platform, or to help us analyze and improve the use of our Platform.

For Crime Prevention or Investigation. We may share this information with governmental agencies or other companies assisting us, when we are:

  • Obligated under the applicable laws or in good faith to respond to court orders and processes; or

  • Responding to claims that any posting or other content violates the intellectual property rights of a third party;

  • Under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to enforce our Terms and Conditions, other agreements, policies or to protect our rights in the event of a claim or dispute relating to your use of our Platform.

Data Security Precautions We use appropriate technical and organizational security measures to ensure a level of protection for personal data appropriate to the nature, scope and purpose of processing personal data, the risks associated with such processing, and the likelihood and severity of the harm that may result from such processing. The transfer of personal data between your end device and us is generally carried out in an encrypted form (TLS encryption). You can identify an encrypted connection for example by the lock symbol in the address line of your browser. If you communicate with us by e-mail, access by third parties cannot be ruled out. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted through the Platform; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to try to prevent unauthorised access. In the case of confidential information, we recommend using the mail, i.e., post or encrypted e-mail communication (PGP).

User Rights It is important for us that you remain in control of your data. Please write to us at admin@piindia.org if you wish to exercise any of your rights under the Policy. You shall have the right to restrict our usage of the data in the manner provided below:

  • Right to Rectification: In the event that any personal data provided by you is inaccurate, incomplete or out dated then you shall have the right to provide us with the accurate, complete and up to date data and have us rectify such data at our end immediately.

  • Right to erasure: You have the right to demand us to erase your personal data and we will do so without undue delay, provided that such data is no longer required by us and there is no legal requirement to retain the data.

  • Right to confirmation and access: You have the right to seek a confirmation from us as to whether any of your personal data is being or has been processed. If yes, you may ask us for summary of such processed data.

Platform Security and Grievance Officer The Platform stores your data with the cloud platform provided by Google LLC and its affiliates (Cloud Service Provider or “CSP”), which may store this data on their servers located outside of India. The CSP has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information. In case, you wish to understand the security measures adopted by them, please visit https://cloud.google.com/. The privacy policy adopted by the CSP is detailed at https://policies.google.com/privacy. In the event you have questions or concerns about the security measures adopted by the CSP, you are requested to contact the data protection / privacy team / legal team or designated the grievance officer at these organisations, whose contact details are available in its privacy policy.

You acknowledge that the standards followed by the CSP are not within control of PII and are liable to change from time to time.
